Why should I have an Appraisal done?

In response to an increasing demand, Old China Patterns Limited offers a China & Crystal Appraisal service. We ask you to consider the following:

  • An increasing number of requests coming to us for appraisals of dinnerware are due to theft. Is your dinnerware adequately insured?

  • An evaluation document may be required by a moving company when a claim is being made for dishes damaged or lost in move.

  • Estate settlements involving dinnnerware (a substantial asset in some cases) often will require a documented evaluation. As well, the giving of china to family or friends may be complicated by the lack of valuation knowledge.

  • Marital settlements may require appraisal services to settle disputes.

  • Possibly, you are considering the sale of your dinnerware but are unaware of the current value.

  • We are constantly on the lookout for item(s) in discontinued patterns. Present, or future demand for your pattern may enable a purchase of your china.

ALL OF THE ABOVE SCENARIOS MAY BE SIMPLIFIED CONSIDERABLY BY HAVING ON HAND AN APPRAISAL OF YOUR DINNERWARE.

What Do I Get?

An appraisal certificate outlining the items you have on hand together with a description of condition, and our professional estimate of their current replacement value. A permanent record, is maintained by Old China Patterns Limited, a certified copy of which may be obtained in the event of loss.

Appraisal Charges

The price of our appraisal, based on your inventory list, together with your description of condition is $50.00 CAD. ** (Canadian residents add 7% GST)

In the event that Old China Patterns Limited purchases the china from you, full refund of the appraisal fee, excluding taxes, will be made.

Basic fee covers one pattern, by one manufacturer, up to a total of 12 lines.

Ex. 8 dinner plates = 1 line. Additional lines (in excess of 12) are $2.00 per line.
